Teaching - BOLIVIA
Monthly Update for Teaching Programme - March 2006

Projects Abroad - Bolivia Summer classes have now come to an end. In November and December of 2005, we registered over 100 students for classes which began earlier this year in January.

During registration, volunteer Stefan Giese mentioned his interest in offering German classes to students who would be interested. Needless to say, these were the biggest groups registered and definitely a hit amongst the Linguistics students of the Universidad Mayor de San Simón. Classes were meant to run only a period of 4 weeks, but students showed excitement when they heard volunteer Sabine Dauth had decided to continue these classes until March.

With 7 English and 2 German classes, a total of 110 students, the office was quite busy with students and Teaching volunteers passing through on a daily basis. Not to mention Spanish lessons running at the same time. We would like to thank volunteers Stefan Giese, Natalie Waylen and Sabine Dauth for their time, efforts and dedication to the students during these past two months. Great job and good luck at Uni!

Classes at Universidad Mayor de San Simón begin on March 6th. We will be starting the I/2006 semester at Linguistics with 2 volunteers. Sabine Dauth will continue her teaching placement with a few weeks aiding professors of English at the Linguistics Department, and Marlene Speth will begin after having completed her Medical placement.

The School of Linguistics and Modern Languages, recently founded in September 2005, has now opened its doors and are welcoming volunteers who are interested in participating in the activities that will be held in the future. Projects Abroad - Bolivia will be presenting volunteers the opportunity to take part in these activities as soon as notice is given. This will be a great opportunity to meet with individuals in the Teaching profession and gain a whole new experience during their placement.
